Since the release of ChatGPT in November 2022, nearly 9% of the newly registered AI companies in China have either been canceled, revoked, or ceased operations, amounting to almost 80,000 businesses, which represents 8.9% of all new registrations during the same period. Over the past three years, more than 200,000 AI-related companies have been deregistered or revoked. In the last decade, 353,000 AI businesses have vanished. Currently, there are 1.8043 million AI-related companies in China, with more than 4,500 recognized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology as part of the AI industry system, and over 180 large models providing services to the public.
